Thirsty Watch®, the first bottled watch, launches its latest creation, Vintage Soda, on the Indiegogo.com crowdfunding platform. During this campaign, Vintage Soda is available for pre-order and in limited quantities for just 69 euros on Indiegogo.com.
Sometimes our sense memory raises the most beautiful emotions. A smell, a taste, a colour: our senses reconnect us with the present moment. This is what David Attias, founder of Thirsty Watch®, wanted to express . “The 1950s were major creative years in the visual world of American sodas. The cap and label reflected the taste and spirit of the drink. I think that this creativity influenced
the evolution of today’s graphic arts.”
Vintage Soda is a “retro” watch attached to the ergonomics and wearing comfort of meticulously-designed objects. Its slightly barrel-shaped case and its fastener system for changing bracelets easily, emphasize this mindset. The graphic of the cap in the center of the dial replaces the hand and rotates 6 degrees every second. A nod to the identity of Thirsty Watch®, for which movement is born of desire, and therefore life. Based in Paris, the Attias family has specialized in the creation and manufacture of watches since 1975. Positioned in the high end watch segment, the family diversified in 2012 with the launch of Thirsty Watch®: the first fun and quirky concept of bottled watches. Now David, the head of the family business, wants to persevere in creation and innovation, like his father René Attias before him. This requires significant investment in research and development, which is leading the company to reorient its strategy towards new business models.
Why crowdfunding ?
To successfully launch a new watchmaking project, you have to know how to innovate in every area. It is somewhat akin to launching a start-up. Crowdfunding is a unique, accessible and very interesting opportunity when you are short on funding but not short on ideas. “For the first time in forty years of family watchmaking history, a watch will be launched using crowdfunding from fans of design products. This way, we wish to harness the full potential of the Web, while developing strong, important links with new communities. “
