Michel herbelin Odyssée automatique

With the success in 2015 of the arrival of the first automatic timepiece in its Odyssée collection, the French watchmaking brand Michel Herbelin is now launching a new model on a wristband in traforato. Vintage in its decagonal bezel, modern in its dial, this watch displays a fitting equilibrium of styles, with an assertive dynamism.

A sportive 70’s

Cut from brushed steel, the case, which is 41 mm in diameter, equipped with a bezel in the shape of a decagon decorated with 10 rivets in polished steel, remains true to the design in the Odyssée collection, inspired by the 70s.

Only the dial is different, placing it in the spirit of the contemporary moment. And this changes everything! Protected by a sapphire glass, the black background highlights the oversized Arabic numerals, positioned only at 3, 9 and 12 o’clock for even more modernity. Michel herbelin Odyssée automatiqueAs for the baton hourmarkers and the hands (hours, minutes), they are covered with a white luminescent material, thus providing maximum visibility, including in the dimmest light conditions. As an echo of the colour of the central seconds hand, a red dial train provides a sober dynamic to the ensemble, while enabling precise reading of the time.

Rounded off with a date aperture at 6 o’clock, this new Odyssée automatique, precisely proportioned, is adorned with a black wristband in traforato, perforated in racing style, whose finishes – with central cambering, the texture of the material, and red topstitching – complete the sporting character of this time piece.

An automatic motor

Designed, conceived, assembled, regulated, and controlled in the workshops of the Michel Herbelin brand, the Odyssée automatique is heir to the French watchmaking expertise, anchored in the Massif du Jura in Franche-Comté since 1947.

Michel herbelin Odyssée automatiqueDriven by a mechanical movement with automatic winding of Swiss manufacture (Sellita), generating 28,800 oscillations per hour, it offers a power reserve of 38 hours. With a transparent bottom plate, this timekeeping instrument, which is water resistant to 100 metres, offers a versatility that will meet the needs of active urbanites who love fine mechanical detail. . .
