Zenith, the Swiss watchmaker, has added a limited edition chronographic watch to its Christophe Colomb collection: the Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane. Made from pink gold, the watch comes equipped with a large 45mm dial and a transmission system that allows it to avoid any impairment of isochronism.

A model of rare precision

The Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane chronographic watch counts itself amongst the few models equipped with the “Gravity Control” system which neutralises the effects of gravity and of loss of isochronism. It also allows for the exceptionally precise measuring of time. The system was moreover recognised at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix in 2011.

A design inspired by marine chronometers

The Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane, which is limited to 25 timepieces, was christened in reference to the marine chronometer which inspired it. Its sophisticated fusee chain system is displayed under a sapphire crystal. The second hands and the power reserve indicator, which is dome-shaped, are made from gold and bear a hand-crafted guilloche motif. Finally, in tribute to the famous navigator Christopher Columbus, the lower sapphire has a laser-etched world map on its reverse side.
