Time for a new SIHH favorite. Today we continue our top picks with the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronomètre, which got a subtle new look we really enjoy. The Fleurier factory decided it was time to give a facelift to one of its iconic watches, and we’re sure glad they did because it’s exactly what it needed.

Parmigiani refresh the Toric with a new subtle look

Don’t expect radical changes, the watch keeps the spirit of the first model drawn by Michel Parmigiani in 1996 but that’s a good thing. The piece displays a sleeker look and manages to look up-to-date without losing its soul. The classical and timeless Toric style remains, which makes it a great choice to avoid looking out of fashion whenever the trends change.

The dial is all about vintage clarity and simplicity while subtle details give it character. The Toric shows a lot of personality thanks to the coin-edge bezel, the Arabic numerals’ subtle round and elegant font, the half-railway minute track on the circumference, and the curved date aperture.

More character and a nice movement

The watch is offered in several versions, whether with a black opaline or white grained dial and a white gold or red-gold case. My preference goes to the red-gold and white grained combination which brings out the overall vintage and raw style of this Toric Chronomètre. Note that even if this piece isn’t exactly a dress watch, it would definitely fit with a suit.

We also want to stress that the 40,8 mm case houses Parmigiani’s proprietary Caliber PF331, a COSC certified movement. A mechanism we like and which is a big part Parmigiani’s value. The watch runs at 28,800 vph with a 55 hours power reserve.

Available at Parmigiani for around 16.900 euros.
