An original approach to luxury watchmaking, Harry Winston Opus XIII is here to amaze the imagination of true horology lovers. Created by an independent watchmaker Ludovic Ballouard, its movement has nearly nothing in common with an ordinary watch except for the balance and escapement.

How to break the watchmaking rules?

The unconventional timepiece Harry Winston Opus XIII has a face featuring fifty-nine pivoting minutes’ hands and eleven rotating triangles responsible for the hours’ detection. A peg on the advancing ring turns each minutes hand forty degrees until the 59th minute is reached when the second outer ring rotates simultaneously all the minutes’ hands back into their original position. There is a cumulative display of minutes and a successive display of hours via a peripheral. The “HW” logo emerges every twelve hours in the sliding shutter for an hour period.

The technical side of the question

The exceptional luxury timepiece Harry Winston Opus XIII consists of 364 components. All together they work on 242 jewels which is a world horology record. A frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 35 hours are also featuring this article. The watch is water resistant at 30 meters. Every timepiece of the limited 130-pieces edition is packed in a 18K white gold case with an engraved “Harry Winston” on the bezel at 12 o’clock. The sapphire-crystal display back lets the curious mind penetrate into the depth of the designer’s creativity.
