Yesterday, for the first time, the A.Lange & Sohne‘s Datograph Lumen stepped on our French soil. As soon as we heard about it, the AskMe.watch team had no choice but to go to the L&S Rue de la Paix store in order to discover this iconic model declined in a brand new Lumen version. Let’s talk about this amazing day in heaven.
The Lumen collection was initiated in 2010 with the ZEITWERK “Luminous” model, followed in 2013 by the Grand Lange 1 and in 2016 by the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase. Only the mythical model of the brand launched in 1999, the Datograph, in its Up / Down version was missing.
Available in platinum, the proportions of the way remain unchanged thanks to the 41mm diameter. The balance of the watch is definitely outstanding when you put it on your wrist for the very first time!
The main particularity of this version relies on the dial which is made of dark tinted semi-transparent sapphire discs which capture the UV and become luminescent in the dark.
The sapphire case-back of the watch offers a dazzling view of the in-house chronograph caliber L951.7 powered at 18,000 vibrations per hour. No less than 454 components are required to manufacture this caliber.
Lange & Sohne reaffirms its ability to create exceptional watches competing with Swiss brands like Patek Philippe or Philipe Dufour (who is the happy owner of a L&S Datograph by the way…)
Only restricted to 200 pieces, this watch is a limited edition which price is set at 95.000 € (12.500 € more than the regular Datograph).

We took advantage of our visit at the store to take another look at a beloved watch presented at the SIHH 2018: the Little Lange 1 reference 181039 in its purple version.
This white gold watch with retained proportions (36,8mm) will undoubtedly fit perfectly female wrists.
In addition to these delightful proportions, the guilloched gold dial is fascinating and its endless colors need to be seen under the sunlight to unveil their deepest secrets.
The technical highlights of this model do include a three-day power reserve, the typical UP/DOWN power-reserve indicator and the instantaneously advancing outsize date display.
Just like the Datograph, this watch is a limited edition of 100 pieces (reserved for the Lange boutiques) with a price set at 32.500 €.
