The famous watchmaking company OMEGA has been playing a significant role of the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games for a long time. The tradition will be observed during the Olympiad Sotchi-2014 as well. A new model Seamaster Planet Ocean Sochi 2014 has been launched on the occasion of this international event.

OMEGA, being the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, installed a giant watch 4 meters high and weighting 3.5 tons in Sochi. This watch is showing the time that rests till the Olympiad 2014. Especially for the winter Olympiad, OMEGA presented the equipment based on the so called Omegascope technology of snapshot overprint. In 2012, Omega introduced its Quantum Timer capable of measuring the fotofinish of 16 competitors at the same time at 1/1’000’000 of a second. So we are observing the evolution of the timekeeping technology. 450 specialists of the brand will participate in the timekeeping process during the competitions.
