Among the highly expected watchmaking brands at BaselWorld 2014, today we take a glance at the Omega brand. The Swiss brand surprises us every year with very modern timepieces filled in with history.

The Omega Speedmaster Mark II model

The Omega brand chooses to bring up to date the iconic model Speedmaster Chronograph Mark II launched in 1969 while keeping its original vintage design.

The Speedmaster Mark II model was originally designed in tribute to the first steps of the man on the moon. This model was equipped with a manual winding caliber 861 while the new model is powered by the famous Co-Axial caliber 3330, an exceptional automatic movement with a Si14 silicon balance spring.

Three different models are available for this watch, but a touch of color enhances the look of the grey dial model, as the second hand and the central markers minutes have been coated with a fluorescent orange color and Superluminova. This detail strongly distinguishes this model from its predecessor. The stainless steel case remains the same with a diameter of 42mm and water resistance up to 100 meters.

Omega’s watch lovers will be delighted to rediscover this legendary timepiece!
