Jaeger -LeCoultre pays tribute to a legendary timepiece with the new Geophysic ® 1958

This new timepiece is part of a series of 800 pieces in steel priced at € 7,600; 300 other pieces in rose

gold, available at €16,600 and a more luxurious platinum version priced at € 25,700.

The first thing we can notice about theses watches is the rather small size of the case: 38,5 mm: a

little wider than the original model, which measured only 35mm.

Extensive researches have been leaded by Jaeger-LeCoultre in order to achieve these two new

models, animated by an automatic movement

A revised legend

The Geophysic ® chronometer is one of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s masterpiece, which was first created in

1958. It symbolized precision and strength while combining a perfect and well-known aesthetics.

The 478BWsbr original caliber came from military watches and lives today a precise leveling with the

mechanical automatic movement 898/ 1

The best features of traditional watchmaking have been assembled in this timepiece: a stop second

for a precise adjustment of the time, a balance to endure thermal shock, a “col de cygnet” index for

adjustment of the precision, but also a soft-iron case to protect the watch from magnetic fields.

A watch produced in three versions

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture unveils today the Geophysic ® 1958 model. This model is available

in three versions: steel, rose gold and platinum. These three editions are housing an 898/1 caliber.

This movement is considered as one of the most reliable and accurate self-winding movement, ever

developed by the Swiss Manufacture.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has chosen to associate in a single piece, the best of the 21stcentury technique: the

stop second and the 28’800 vibrations per hour, for a more precise adjustment of the time, a

stronger balance to shocks, a reworked gear train, and a self-winding with ceramic ball gears that

requires no lubrication.

The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic ® 1958 provides an internal control for 1000 hours. This control

characterizes the pieces leaving the Manufacture after 6 weeks of testing, in six positions with a

rotary movement and at rest. It is a real guarantee of reliability and quality for buyers of such pieces.

Each version of the Geophysic ® watch is offered with an alligator strap. This strap has a pin buckle,

of which harmonized colors match with the metal case: black alligator for the steel model and brown

chocolate alligator for the rose gold version.

The Geophysic ® 1958 watch has lost none of its reputation and remains more than ever, a symbol of

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s know how. We can certainly consider this watch as a new best seller!
