In between tradition and history

Longines has recently launched a tribute to its historical chronograph line called “The Longines Column-Wheel Chronograph Single Push Piece” which takes its inspiration from the chronograph wristwatches developed in the 1900s.

This very elegant timepiece looks pretty traditional but has an exclusive movement inside developed by ETA for Longines. It also comes in different versions: steel or pink gold. The style of the watch is very simple with a white dial, black numerals, a red twelve that matches perfectly with the blue hands and to enhance it all a fluted bezel.

The perfect combination of vintage and tradition

Longines Column Wheel Chronograph Single Push Piece watch is inspired by the earlier wristwatch-chronographs but its movement is to be compared with modern chronographs. The L788 caliber is very similar to the own of its predecessors but was developed by ETA exclusively for Longines. All the traditional chronograph functions are controlled via the single pusher and makes the use of this timepiece very convenient and fast.

This Longines model also comes in three different versions, each of them have a diameter of 40mm. The first two versions are available in either steel or rose gold case, and Arabic numeral display. The third version is decorated with Roman numerals. The dial is a real tribute to vintage Longines dials and is equiped with two counters at 3 and 9 o’clock and also a date at 6.

But the interest of the Column Wheel Chronograph Single Push Piece model is to be admired on the third version, which has a definitely more “vintage” look. Indeed, the case is more angular than the other two versions and is fitted with moving lugs. All models of the Longines are completed with a transparent sapphire caseback and a brown alligator strap. Quite classic but 100% elegance!
