The famous artist, during his tour around Europe with a Tribute to the Irakere Band, has been participating to “Estival Jazz” in Lugano, known as the leading music events in Switzerland.
Winner of five GRAMMY Awards, the Cuban pianist, composer and arranger Chucho Valdes is the most influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban jazz. Jesus Valdes Rodrigues, nicknamed “Chucho”, is a son of the great bandleader Bebo Valdes (Sabor de Cuba).

Cuervo y Sobrinos, the prestigious Swiss brand with a Latin soul, founded in La Habana in 1882, has entitled the artist with the “International Latin Award” during the Habanos’ Festival in 2011.
The International Latin Award is dedicated to Latin artist who gained a world reputation. In previous years this award was given to prestigious personalities such as the Director Pedro Almodovar, actors Antonio Banderas and Andy Garcia, the singer Miguel Bosé, writer Mario Vargas Llosa and musician Chucho Valdés.

Jesús Valdés Rodríguez, better known as Chucho Valdés (born October 9, 1941), is a Cuban pianist, bandleader, composer and arranger whose career spans over 50 years. An original member of the Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna, in 1973 he founded the group Irakere, one of Cuba’s best-known Latin jazz bands. Both his father, Bebo Valdés, and his son, Chuchito, are pianists as well. He has won five Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards.
