A. Lange & Söhne presents its new “Grande Lange 1 Lumen” men’s watch
The renowned German watchmaker A.Lange & Söhne recently unveiled its new men’s watch, the Grande Lange 1 Lumen. Heir to the Grande Date Lange, which was introduced in 1994, the watch’s semi-transparent dial reveals an inventive movement.
A men’s watch in a limited edition of 200
The Grande Lange 1 Lumen, available in only 200 timepieces, has a platinum case and a dial made partly from semi-transparent sapphire crystal, an original feature that allows the owner of this men’s watch to see and appreciate the same disc mechanism as the one housed in the Grande Date Lange. Its manufacture calibre has been finished by hand and mounted twice.
A sophisticated and inspired movement
The Grande Lange 1 men’s watch draws inspiration from the famous Five-Minute Clock of the Semper Opera House in Dresden, Germany, in the creation of which Ferdinand A. Lange, the founding member of A.Lange & Söhne, took part. The watch manages to place an outsize date indicator in a confined space thanks to an ingenious display: the disc with the numerals 0 to 9 is separate from the disc with the tens, which are controlled independently by two programme wheels.
